Hey all! I heard all of the time… “Kathryn… I love flowers and want them at my wedding, but I cannot afford them everywhere. How can I use my money wisely?” Well… Let me help you with that 🙂
This blog post will hopefully help you find ways to keep costs low.
- Guest list. A smaller guest list allow more floral décor opportunities. Sometimes it does come down to numbers and logic. If you are trying to put flowers on every table with 300 guests… well that’s a lot more than trying to provide for a 150 guest wedding.
- Bridal party size. Keep your bridal party small! You can spend hundreds of dollars on your bridesmaids bouquets alone! Skip that cost. Yes, it is more traditional, but why not only have one person standing up with you but invite your close friends to sit by you during dinner? That would be a way to honor them without the added bridesmaids bouquets everywhere. I have also seen keeping the boutonniere list low. Only including your groom (instead of the groomsmen, fathers, grandfathers, ushers…. etc) can significantly reduce the cost. If mom or grandma is really insistent on adding corsages for all of the aunts, etc – you could always (kindly) send them to my email and we can get them set up to pay for those items.
- Seasonality. Pick flowers that are in your season! When you are requesting flowers, the best and most affordable flowers will be those in season! Asking for out-of-season flowers can cost up to 60% more than in season flowers. Talk to your florist to see what is available during your wedding day!
Hopefully this helps you make your floral decisions.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
