Hello all! Your local, friendly, Cedar Rapids wedding florist here!
Haha, I am trying to get more creative with these intros. Anyways…. I wanted to write about questions you should ask photographers from a wedding florist’s perspective. I layout the 3 best questions to ask for understanding throughout this blog post!
- What does your editing look like in respects to the florals? This is one of my favorite questions to ask a photographer because sometimes they do not think that the flowers look different the original. In this question you are basically asking “how much do you alter the flowers?” Listen for the terms “true to color” or “realistic.” Maybe you want a photographer who edits the flowers to a certain shade, but then why did you ask for the specific floral color choices in your arrangements?
- Which florist have you worked with before? Oof… one of my favorites because if a photographer cannot name the florists they’ve worked with…. then do they really care about the floral element? Now, I get there are a lot of wedding florists, but if they’ve been in the industry for more than 3 years, they should know at least 1 florist personally. The follow up application would be to look up their photos and try to find the latest photo they tagged a florist. Are they tagging them in the socials? That shows me that their words and actions are matched.
- What’s your favorite element of florals other than the bridal bouquet? This is another great question to ask because it shows you what a photographer values within the floral elements. Do they only care about the bridal or do they take a note in all the other elements in their wedding? If they cannot mention anything else… what does that mean about their attention to detail? Just saying.
Again, there are many other questions to ask a photographer, but these would be my main 3.
Let me know if you have any questions!
