Hello all! Kathryn the flower farming, florist here!
I have seen time and time again gals want to hear my recommendations for bakers after they book our services. Well, today I wanted to chat about the 3 best questions to ask a baker (from a florist’s perspective).
- Will you add the flowers or shall my florist? When you book my services, I offer free flowers for your cake (wink wink). I like to offer that as a free gift for my couples. That being said, sometimes bakers prefer to put the flowers on the cake themselves. I totally understand, but this is a good question to ask.
- What flowers will you use or not use? Some flowers are poisonous (of course, I would never give you a poisonous flower) but if a baker knows the flowers that are not safe to eat… that means they care about the floral element. If they do not know, I am happy to educate them, but that is one good question to ask.
- Do you know of any florists? One of my favorite questions. Do they know any wedding florists? Can they name them, by name? Do they have a personal relationship with them? If they know some florists, their credibility is added. If they cannot – maybe they are forgetful or maybe they do not care enough to learn the names of other florists? IDK, just a thought.
Hopefully you ask other questions to vent your caterer options, but here are a few from the floral perspective.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
-Kathryn
