3 Things a Wedding DJ Wants You to Know

Hello all! This is Kathryn the wedding flower gardener/florist here!

Today I am honored to have DJ Clife on my little blog. He is an amazing DJ that is popping here in Iowa. He is here to share 3 things a wedding Dj wants us to know. Read more and then check out his website!

Modern and Unique

Every wedding is different. And when it comes to the music and entertainment, your experience should be unique as well without the mixture of cheesiness. Let your guests line up for the cha-cha slide or step to the cupid shuffle at someone else’s event. With Clife DJ Company at your wedding, you and your guests will sure experience a modern, fun and high energy vibe on the dancefloor!

Music Editing

Is your first dance song a little too long? You want to come out at a specific time in the song at your grand entrance? You have a song that you love but the guy cheated on her on the second verse? Maybe it’s not the best song choice! Keep calm. We can easily fix that for you! We can edit the bad words out, chop up the song in half or prolong a song so grandma can take her time walking down the aisle, or even add a “surprise message” to your special song (this one is our favorite. Ask us about it!). One of the things our couples love about us is our creativity of turning a not-so-good of song special, and a special song MAGICAL. Don’t take it from us. Just check our reviews😊

Find the Right DJ for the Job!

Finding the right DJ for your event is not as simple as it seems. Your DJ will make or break your event. Let me repeat that. YOUR DJ WILL MAKE OR BREAK YOUR EVENT. There is a huge difference between an average wedding DJ and a Pro wedding DJ. We don’t just “show up and play good music” at your wedding. This topic can be an entire blog by itself, but here are a few tips to help you choose wisely.

Envision the vibe and energy that you want at your wedding. Write that down.

Check the DJ company’s Website, social media/s, and reviews. Do they ALL match with your vibe?

Listen to their song mix/es. Mixing samples are usually on their Website, Mixcloud, or social media.

Ask about their process to figure out if they meet your expectations.

A DJ Company with multiple DJ talents will always provide you with more talent options, and better security than a single operating DJ. If you go with a solo DJ, ask them about their emergency plan.

Most average DJs offer packages. A professional DJ will take time to get to know you, your vision, and curate a boutique experience that is unique to you. I would personally avoid packages. This may come surprising for many, but packages can be misleading. But in the end, it comes down to gut feeling. If it feels right to you, ask for a contract.

Verify their track record. Experience is key, especially in moments when things do not go according to plan.

Lastly, an unpopular opinion- if you really want a memorable dance floor experience, avoid hiring a button pusher DJ. These are DJs who do not have the technical skills to manually mix or blend two songs together and are compensating their lack of skill with constantly talking over the microphone.

With these 3 tips, you are sure to have not just a successful wedding, but also a memorable one. If you are ready to take your wedding to the next level, Clife DJ Co. is here to help!

Thank you DJ Clife!
